STABILITY
Nicotine Polacrilex is stable under normal storage conditions.
Reactivity: Reacts with alkalis and other cati ons to release Nicotine Exposure to strong oxidising agents leads to decomposition and the release of Nicotine.
Excessive heat> 80°C will cause break down of the resin and the release of Nicotine
Acute effects :Very toxic by ingestion and inhalation of dust.
Toxic symptoms are nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, mental convulsions,sweating, convulsions and death.
Chronic effects: No evidence of carcinogenic properties

a. Nicotine is highly toxic to all forms of aquatic life so any contamination
of drains or water courses must be avoided.
b. It is an effective insecticide ans is also toxic to mammals and birds.
c. It is readily biodegradable in the presence of air or contact with soil.
Material can be burned in a licensed incinerator under regulated conditions.Material can be treated with alkali to release free base Nicotine for recovery. The inert resin can then be disposed of at an approved land-fill site.
